Chief exports include corn, diamonds, fruits, sugar, metals and minerals, and wool. Over the last few years South Afri‍‍‍ca has emerged as a global beverage exporter. South Africa exports over $600 million in wine and is the 9th largest wine producer in the world.

‍‍‍Approximately 90% of South Africa's economically active population is found in areas surrounding the cities of Johannesburg, C‍‍‍ape Town, Durban, Pretoria, and Port Elizabeth.‍‍‍
