US Trade: South Africa is the 39th largest goods trading partner of the US with $13 Billion in total (two way) goods trade. Goods exported totaled $5.5 Billion, goods imported totaled $7.3 Billion.
Natural Resources: South Africa is the world's largest producer of chrome, manganese, platinum, vanadium and vermiculite, the second largest producer of gold, ilmenite, palladium, rutile and zirconium. It is also the world's third largest coal exporter.
Exports/Imports: Chief exports include corn, diamonds, fruits, metals, sugar and wool. Machinery and transportation equipment make up more than one-third of the country's imports.
Rooibos Tea: Rooibos tea has become a worldwide favorite for tea drinkers. It is only grown in the Cederberg region and has to be exported in massive quantities.
South Africa is best known for its minerals and agricultural products and many consider South Africa as the gateway into the African continent.
South Africa exports $93.7 Billion and imports $80.8 Billion worth of goods each year. South Africa's principal global trading partners outside of the African continent are: Germany, the United States, China, Japan, the United Kingdom and Spain.
Chief exports include corn, diamonds, fruits, sugar, metals and minerals, and wool. Over the last few years South Africa has emerged as a global beverage exporter. South Africa exports over $600 million in wine and is the 9th largest wine producer in the world.
